Hi everyone:)
I wonder if there are artists here who don't put prices on every Commission?:D
I know this is a stupid question, but I'm very curious:D

    Hello GrizzlyArt!
Uhm... I think I don't quite understand what you mean. I do put a price in each commission I work on because if not... I would be working for free? Can you explain a bit more what you mean? I'm a bit lost lol

But if you were referring to working on a commission and then set the price AFTER it was done, then absolutely not, I never do that. It is my job to calculate how long it'll take and let the client know exactly how much it's gonna cost (because none likes surprises, especially with money). But again, I'm not sure if you were referring to this.

Not an artist, but I don't quite understand what you mean there, either.

    I apologize for my English:D
I mean, a lot of artists are starting to set their prices for EVERY Commissions. I'm just curious, are there artists who put prices on commissions, from which they get creative inspiration rather than on every commissions?

I hope I was able to express my thoughts more accurately:D

Do you mean if there are artists who only make offers on commissions they want to work on rather than every commission available?

  • 2020-07-08 15:59:42

    Yep:D

Well Id imagine most artists would only bid on a job they feel comfortable or inspired enough to want to work on. I certainly wouldn't want to accept money to produce artwork I wasn't interested in. Waste of my time and its unfair on the client as I probably wouldn't produce the work to the best of my ability.

That's right. But there are also artists who work only to earn as much money as possible.
And I have nothing against it (because we don't know what kind of situation people are in). Because, on the one hand, this is a job, and they have to earn a living. But on the other hand, this is bad for a true artist. IMHO:D
But who is a true artist? Everyone has their own answer to this question:D

  • A real artist does not tracking, he can model a given pose, but does not copy the entire body, tracking is often used by artists on this site

I pretty much have guarantee works for the rest of the year, but sometimes I just put my price for a commission and even when I know I not gonna be selected anyway, just an habit, I like to be rejected I guess

  • 2020-07-09 03:48:22

I only put my bid over comms that I consider interesting for me to do.

  • 2020-07-09 04:19:26

As I only start in the business, I try to bid on every commissions I can so I can get more work that gives me more visibility that will give me more works and so on.
Also, until now, I had the chance to get to work on several different characters and several styles. I can improve my art by working on different styles.

I think, depending on the country, you should charge differently, they are not the same $ 20 in the United States as in Chile or Colombia. For example, in Colombia you earn around $ 15 a day and if the work lasts more than a day, you do nothing, if you are from the United States, it worsens because the work day is more expensive, this explains why there are artists who do not accept commissions of $ 5 and if they do it it is for drawing; Now there are many clients who already have their artists and the chances are that if you offers do not give you the job, there are also those who have already pointed to someone (in light blue) and you as an artist can respect that and do not offer.

True that Arca. Even though I bid on every commission, I always raise the price to my needs. In the end it's up to the client to choose on this site.

  • 2020-07-09 20:28:37

You're right, Arca. The first time I registered on this site, I immediately started offering my price for every Commission:D
But after a few days of finding out how things are on this site, I realized it was pointless.
Like you said, every client has their own artists. After that, I decided that I would offer prices to those who themselves want to make a Commission with me. But sometimes I make exceptions for good ideas:D
This is only my opinion and you may not agree with it:D
